Chemo one week ago

A week ago I went in for chemo. My CT scan done a few days before was “stable”. That remains wonderful news. I was more nervous than usual. No visitors were allowed in the waiting room (although I saw 2 patients accompanied by another person).

My Oncologist told me the first patient tested positive for Covid-19 in my old ICU that morning. There were 6 known positive Covid-19 in my county. Today there are 18 known cases in my county and 6 in my old workplace (community hospital). A slow steady climb which is no surprise. Limited testing is happening here so I expect more people to be hospitalized in the near future.

I honestly don’t know if I will get chemo in 3 weeks. My Oncologist promised his staff would call if it was not safe and I promised I would call if I did not feel safe.

They say it is going to be a very bad week for the country this week. I believe NC is lagging behind so it may be worse here the end of April or later. Public schools have been closed since March 16th with gradual closure of non-essential businesses afterward.

We are still anticipating living in the “Undiscovered Country,” the future. One day at a time.

  • I worked as a registered nurse in Critical Care for over 35 years. I retired in 2017. I am single, never married. I have one sister, one brother and I am an aunt. I love animals and nature, especially cats. My Siamese cat, Tiger is my constant companion and joy. I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in July 2015. I received debulking surgery at that time. I have been through chemotherapy a total of 3 times. I am receiving it now for pulmonary nodules which popped up on my CT scan in April and an area under my left diaphragm which is also positive for cancer. This is my 2nd reoccurence. No symptoms with this reoccurence or the reoccurence I had in 2018. (See what I mean by MY SNEAKY CANCER ) ?
