I’m Still Standing
It has been over a month since I last posted. I hit a low point and I was at a loss of what to post. My creatinine went up to 1.79 and my hemoglobin was 8.1 before chemo two weeks ago.
The elevated creatinine got me a nephrology consult. We did nothing about my anemia until yesterday when my hemoglobin dropped to 7.1. I finally got 2 units of packed cells. Living with chronic fatigue is difficult. I was very grateful to receive the transfusion. It buys me at least two better weeks.
I am still concerned about my renal status and my high blood pressure. I am averaging 150’s over 90’s at home and much higher at the office.
My urine output dropped very low on chemo day and the day after. I “pushed fluids” to 64 ounces on chemo day which did not help. The day after I more than doubled it and my urine output finally improved. My most recent creatinine came down a little bit is still elevated. I am grateful for that too.
Covid-19 is still out there. My sister assumed I was unable to social distance yesterday. It is impossible to “social distance” when someone is accessing your port or transfusing blood or administering chemo. She is high risk too! I live alone except for three cats (I recently rescued two which is another story). Businesses are beginning to open up again locally and throughout most of the U.S. I am happy for the unemployed who have a job again. It changes nothing for me. I want my life back. More to come….
