Nadir visit

What a beautiful picture!

Nadir is a check, after chemotherapy, on how you are feeling and a blood draw for lab work to assess if any of your lab values are too low or high. Most people who receive chemotherapy reach a “worst” point after chemo when your labs are as bad as they will become. This time is usually 7-14 days after chemo. It varies from one person to another. Mine is 14 days. Today my Nadir visit was great! All my labs were fine. (Still waiting on my urine protein). I received a flu shot (the higher dose for senior citizens), finally! This has been a grand beginning to Thanksgiving week!

I am scheduled for a MUGA scan next Monday and CT scan on Friday. The big news will be on December the 10th when I learn my MUGA scan and CT scan results. These days I really have no idea what will happen but I am hoping for good news and bracing myself if the news is not what I am hoping for.

As a welcome distraction, my sister and I are volunteering at the local food bank after the appointment. I have supported this food bank ($), off and on for the last few years. I look forward to seeing them in action and helping some myself. Maybe, I can continue planning some activity after I get scan results so my focus will not just be on the scan results. I think it will improve my mood and decrease my anxiety. After all, it is not all about me!

  • I worked as a registered nurse in Critical Care for over 35 years. I retired in 2017. I am single, never married. I have one sister, one brother and I am an aunt. I love animals and nature, especially cats. My Siamese cat, Tiger is my constant companion and joy. I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in July 2015. I received debulking surgery at that time. I have been through chemotherapy a total of 3 times. I am receiving it now for pulmonary nodules which popped up on my CT scan in April and an area under my left diaphragm which is also positive for cancer. This is my 2nd reoccurence. No symptoms with this reoccurence or the reoccurence I had in 2018. (See what I mean by MY SNEAKY CANCER ) ?
