Rescued!

Tucker

Right in the middle of lockdown from the pandemic, March 25th 2020, I was rescued!

I opened my front door and a kitten about 6 weeks old was sitting there.  I had never seen this kitten before in my neighborhood.  I asked my neighbors about him and a few had seen him and another kitty down the road a couple of days before.  Noone knew anything about him.

Initially, a young couple, near my home said they would take him.  However, the next morning he ran out of their house when they opened their door and returned to my house.  (They told me they were NOT planning to take him to the vet because it cost too much.)  I noticed he was limping with a very swollen left front paw.  He brought a new friend with him, a beautiful long haired female cat.

I took him to the vet.  She drained a wound on his foot from a cat bite (according to the her).  He got worm medicine and his vaccines.  I named him Tucker because that name popped into my mind when I was taking him to the vet.

The other cat was welcomed into my home a few weeks later.  (Remember this was early in the pandemic so the vet told me to isolate Tucker from my other inside senior cat, Tiger.) When I said  welcomed, I mean the other 2 cats escorted her around my house, giving her a tour the first time I let her inside, much to my surprise.   (I fed/watered  her outside up to that day.)

I named her Cleopatra because of her beauty and her sassy attitude.

I added two family members to my home in the middle of a pandemic.  They rescued me then and continue to rescue me giving me purpose and endless delight.

  • I worked as a registered nurse in Critical Care for over 35 years. I retired in 2017. I am single, never married. I have one sister, one brother and I am an aunt. I love animals and nature, especially cats. My Siamese cat, Tiger is my constant companion and joy. I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in July 2015. I received debulking surgery at that time. I have been through chemotherapy a total of 3 times. I am receiving it now for pulmonary nodules which popped up on my CT scan in April and an area under my left diaphragm which is also positive for cancer. This is my 2nd reoccurence. No symptoms with this reoccurence or the reoccurence I had in 2018. (See what I mean by MY SNEAKY CANCER ) ?
