Seizing The Day

I went to my “Nadir Visit” almost a week ago. My hemoglobin actually went up to 9.8 from 9.5 after receiving chemotherapy. If this is your first visit to my site, you must be wondering why I am so excited about a hemoglobin which is still below normal range. Historically, my hemoglobin drops by a gram after a dose of chemo. I have been feeling wonderful, stronger than usual. This was not shocking news. So I decided to go to our local Seafood Festival since the weather was clear, with temperatures in the mid 70’s and a refreshing breeze blowing. It is a lot of walking. There were many places where I could stop and rest so I had a great afternoon. Normally I would never voluntarily go into a crowd during chemo since my immune system is usually impaired. My neutrophiIs (white blood cells) were fine so I went. I had not gone to this annual festival in decades. Best to “seize the day” when you are doing well. No regrets!

I have been through chemotherapy a total of 3 times. I am receiving it now for pulmonary nodules which popped up on my CT scan in April and an area under my left diaphragm which is also positive for cancer. This is my 2nd reoccurence. No symptoms with this reoccurence or the reoccurence I had in 2018. (See what I mean by MY SNEAKY CANCER ) ?
